The Barcelona region plays an important role in promoting the transformation of the automotive industry towards the electric and connected vehicle.
The region is home to a substantial cluster of companies involved in the development of sustainable transportation and intelligent urbanization solutions. These firms include manufacturers of automobiles and motorcycles, railway equipment manufacturers, ride-sharing services, as well as telecommunications and mobility-related infrastructure companies.

/ Seat (Volkswagen group) is investing three billion euros in the conversion of its Barcelona plant to produce 500,000 electric small cars a year from 2025.
/ D-Hub, led by QEV and BTech, plans to manufacture 100% electric last-mile vehicles under the Zeroid brand and electric pickups based on patents from previous Nissan models, to be marketed under the Ebro brand. Alongside them, a dozen sector companies with complementary projects will participate in the hub.
/ The Barcelona-based unicorn Wallbox opened a new electric vehicle charger factory in Barcelona which aims to produce one million devices in 2025
